Courtney Baran is an independent contractor for the Hagen History Center, brought on as a digital archives technician in July of 2022.
She graduated from Clarion University of Pennsylvania in 2016 with a BS in Liberal Studies with a concentration in history education, and she obtained her master’s degree in Public History from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 2018. While not an Erie native, Courtney has immersed herself in Erie’s history. She completed her graduate school internship at the Erie Maritime Museum, was awarded the Judy Cheteyan Internship Scholarship opportunity at the Erie Art Museum after graduating and was the Digital Collections Librarian for the Heritage Room at the Erie County Public Library for 3.5 years.
When not at the Hagen History Center, Courtney can most likely be found outside hiking, fishing, and camping. While at home, she enjoys family time on the back porch, cooking, and learning more about food history.
