VE Exhibit Label 1:
1939 letter to Dr. Schlendwein from Muriel S. Weber of Pittsburgh.

"There isn't much I can tell you about the history of the bronzes, I'm sorry to say. They were collected by a Miss Jane Adams who was a missionary to China. She bought and sold them to maintain the mission and the collection you now have was purchased for herself and were in the Carnegie Library in Pittsburgh for a good many years and after her deather, the Union Trust Company, who was the executor of the estate sold them to Mr. Ulmer and myself. They tried to find out something about them for us, but her heirs were so scattered (none in Pittsburgh) that it was impossible to find out anything."
