Description:
Square urn or incense burner with cover from Ming Dynasty. Object itself sits on four decorative legs. Removable cover has cut-out metal work and is adorned with two Ming dogs, one quite larger than the other. Urn is completed by a wooden pedestal which is carved in a scroll-like design and has four depressions carved where the legs of the urn rest.
VE Exhibit Label 1:
The Ming dynasty lasted from 1368 - 1644. The Ming dogs on this object are a variation of the Foo dog porcelain from earlier in the exhibit.
