So many exciting things are happening at the Hagen History Center! As you will read, programs, construction, educational opportunities continue to grow at a rapid pace. Over the last three years, we embarked on an ambitious building program, expanded our staff (from 3 full-time and 4 part-time to now 7 full-time and 9 part-time), and nearly doubled our operating budget. This is all about our mission of preserving our history and educating the public.
On a serious note, many museums and historical societies across the country are cutting back or closing altogether. Funding for day-to-day operations is at a crisis point for many organizations. While our capital improvements at the Hagen History Center are being closely managed – the funds to build buildings and create exhibits – our budget for operations comes from a completely different source.
That’s where you can play a critical role.
